Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween. My memory is getting bad. I can't recall if I missed any days running. I can't compute my total milage for the week. This blog can be a good thing. I will record all my milage. When I move to speed, I can record times and intensities.

Anyway. Sat run did my subdivision course - six miles. Sunday did my levee course - seven miles. I only have two more weekends before my half marathon (Nov 20) www.runnotc.org. My longest run was nine miles. I guess I should do an eleven miler this week and a twelve the following week. I still can't commit to the gym yet, because of school. I know there are big projects lurking in the background that will suck up all my free time. That's why I love running. There is no additional time required other than just the excercising. You can do at any time of day or night....

Today is one of my two rest days. Mondays and Wednesdays. Those are work days. Which will be soon changing, I'm excited about that. Change. I love change. More to follow...

Set First goal

Mailed off my registration for Nov. 20 Ole Man River Half Marathon. I haven't run 13 miles straight since May. This is first real race for the NOTC since Hurricane Katrina. In case you don't live on this planet, we just destroyed a major city with poor government, engineering and good old fashioned looting... Oh I almost forgot, over a thousand people died and thousands are displaced while illegal immagrants and no bid contractors flock to the city to suck up all of the moolah. But we are happy because FEMA came in and gave everybody $2000 hush money.... Now where was I??? Goal for the race - just finish w/o walking. No speed concerns.

I ran my longest yesterday in a while. I did eight-nine miles. Plan on my usual six today.

Diet: Got to work on that all important diet. Yesterday had way too many cocktails and a Philly steak sandwhich. Other than that weak moment this week I did eat pretty well and stayed alcohol free.

First posting

Follow me on my journey as I transform from mere mortal back to a triathlete. I am finishing up a degree which has not allowed me the free time that I require to train as a triathlete. This is my last semester and I have but seven weeks till I close my adult student chapter of my life. Nearly five years has passed since I completed my first and only Ironman. Triathlon led me to return to school, and returning to school made me leave triathlons (not entirely, but mostly).

Immediate Goals.
Goal 1. Keep in some type of shape. I plan on running about thirty-five miles a week. No speed - don't care about speed, just fitness.
Goal 2. Get back in the gym with weights. This will prevent (hopefully) any running injuries and get me started on some type of routine.
Goal 3. Survey some endurance events and decide what types of events I want to participate in once this school stuff is over.
Goal 4. Apply (again) for the IM Hawaii.
